Dec 28, 2004 9:21 AM

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is clarifying information about maximum statutory penalties if a person commits a pattern of critical or acute regulation violations, or previously did so, according to information published in the Federal Register December 29.

The FMCSA publication refers to the Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act, 1999, Section 222.

It also discusses the notification procedures and extraordinary circumstances that may warrant assessment of less than the maximum penalty.
