FHWA developing truck parking program

Aug 29, 2006 10:37 AM

With long-term parking for trucks on national highways a continuing problem, the Federal Highway Administration is soliciting applications for a pilot program to address the issue, according to information published in the Federal Register August 28.

States, metropolitan planning organizations, and local governments are eligible for funding for a wide range of projects, ranging from construction of spaces and other capital improvements to using intelligent transportation systems technology to increase information on the availability of both public and private commercial vehicle parking spaces. The agency defines long-term parking as parking available for 10 or more consecutive hours.
