Canada to regulate renewable fuels

Jan 2, 2007 11:45 AM

Canada's new government has announced it will require an annual average renewable fuels content of five per cent in gasoline by 2010.

It also intends to regulate a two per cent requirement for renewable content in diesel fuel and heating oil by 2012, according to a news release from the office of the Canadian Minister of the Environment.

As part of the plan, funding will be provided to encourage farmers to participate in the use and production of renewable fuels.
