ATA supporting US infrastructure needs

The American Trucking Associations (ATA) is supporting efforts for analyzing future infrastructure needs by the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission, according to ATA information.
"As the Commission report makes clear, trucking is, and will remain, the dominant mode of freight transportation," Bill Graves, ATA president, stated in a news release. "Consequently, the trucking industry is acutely aware of the magnitude of the problems facing the nation in maintaining the world’s pre-eminent transportation and infrastructure network."
ATA emphasized its support of certain elements of the report, released January 16, including the need to:
•Address freight movement.
•Understand the important role that goods movement plays in the overall health of the US economy.
•Reform the program to ensure a more performance-based system.
•Maintain a user-fee based system.
