FMCSA eases HOS rule for relief efforts

Oct 28, 2005 8:35 AM

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Southern Region, has granted an extension to the relief from certain regulations applying to driver hours-of-service rules in 49 CFR parts 390-399.

The extension applies for hurricane relief for Louisiana, Texas, Florida, and Mississippi.

The extension will expire in Louisiana, Florida, and Mississippi November 22, 2005, and in Texas October 31, 2005.

Under the new regional declaration of emergency, relief from regulations will apply for motor carriers and drivers providing direct assistance in emergency relief.

The four FMCSA regional emergency declarations for gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, propane, natural gas/CNG and ethanol, allowing emergency transportation of those commodities between points nationwide, expired October 26, 2005.
