GT OmniPort, a new crude oil transload terminal in Port Arthur TX, is now up and running. The facility transloads crude oil from rail tankcars to barges for delivery to refineries across the Gulf Coast. Storage tanks for crude oil are now being added to tGT OmniPort has the capacity to handle a crude oil unit train a day, and enough storage track is now in place to accommodate 250 tankcars.
GT OmniPort has its own switch engine for repositioning unit train cars.Rail service is provided by the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroads.As the initial phase of construction wound down, a crane lifted a nitrogen storage tank into place near the crude oil receiving area.
