Pressure tankcars are degassed at this station at the Channelview facility.Drummed heels are kept in the storage area connected to the wash rack building until they can be removed for recycling or disposal.
Wash rack equipment includes Gould’s wash pumps, Dekker vacuum pumps, steam boilers, and Warren ball valves with Teflon seats.Railcar tanks were turned into wash solution vats for the closed-loop cleaning system.Acids are cleaned at the first two tankcar spots in the wash rack. The acid vapor treatment system includes a caustic scrubbing system, off-loading/drumming, and full-fill neutralization capabilities.
