A specialist in liquid sweetener hauling, D F Hammonds Inc runs a lean operation based on Presidents Island in Memphis TN. The regional carrier operates 28 tractors and 31 foodgrade tank trailers. Only sweeteners are cleaned, and the typical washout takes 35 to 45 minutes.

One two-stage pressure washer for exterior cleaning serves both bays at the D F Hammonds wash rack. Biodegradable detergent is used for exterior cleaning.Ben Kelley helped design the mezzanines and other fixtures in the wash rack.Participation in the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay program includes outfitting tractors and trailers with widebase tires.
D F Hammonds’ newest International ProStar tractors were specified with the new Maxxforce 13 engine.Most trailers in the fleet have product pumping systems powered by hydraulics systems with Drum Hydrapak cooling units.
