For more than 20 years, tractor-trailer rigs in the McMahon Transport Group fleet have been a regular sight at service stations throughout the greater Chicago area and northwestern Indiana. Monthly driver meetings open with a safety discussion, and immediate safety concerns are addressed as needed during informal sessions with drivers.Developed in-house at McMahon Transport Group, web-based Digital Fuel Solutions has significantly streamlined the management processes for fuel transportation and delivery.
Drivers send and receive fuel shipment information with handheld touch-screen computer terminals.For its newest tractors, McMahon Transport Group chose the Peterbilt 386 daycab. The carrier is testing Eaton’s UltraShift Plus automated transmission in the tractor.Four-compartment tank trailers with double bulkheads hold 9,500 gallons. The carrier runs straight-barrel and double-taper units.Tank trailer hardware includes Dixon-Bayco bottom-loading adapters, Betts internal valves, and Civacon and Scully overfill protection.
