On hand for the presentation of the NTTC 2008 Outstanding Performance Trophy for safety were [from left] Lee Drury, Jack B Kelley safety director; Mark Davis, Jack B Kelley president; and Sheldon Seaton, a driver based at Jack B Kelley’s Ontario CA terminal. The trophy was presented to the Jack B Kelley team May 11 during the NTTC’s 61st Annual Conference in San Diego CA.

The company’s award-winning program sets high expectations, calling for zero accidents, zero incidents, and zero personal injuries. Initially intended for helium, the tube trailers have been used to transport a variety of compressed gases over the years.
Two compressed gas simulators are used in the driver training program at Jack B Kelley Inc. Newly hired drivers spend many hours training on the simulators.Larry Warden serves as the primary trainer at the Amarillo TX terminal and organizes the six-day orientation sessions attended by every newly hired driver.Newly hired drivers practice loading and unloading cryogenic liquids with this 9,000-gallon liquefied nitrogen storage tank. Jack B Kelley Inc spent $120,000 on specialized training equipment.
All of the tractors in the Jack B Kelley Inc fleet (including those belonging to owneroperators) have the Qualcomm satellite tracking and communication system.Safety personnel use these pickup trucks to observe fleet operations across the United States. The Safety & Training Department includes seven trainers and one environmental and health manager.
