Fleet image is critical for Dillon Transport Inc, Burr Ridge IL. It’s part of the carrier’s effort to provide every customer with premium service. Dillon Transport runs late-model tractors, such as this new Peterbilt 386 sleeper unit with plenty of driverDillon Transport’s management team includes [from left] Charles Musgrove, Mark Brinkman, Jeff Dillon, Jeff Bonnema, and Sue Crofts.New tractor purchases over the past year included three Volvo VNL300 daycab tractors with Volvo’s D13 engine and I-Shift automatic transmission.Asphalt has been a key focus for Dillon Transport, and asphalt trailers make up a large percentage of the fleet. Built by E D Etnyre & Co, the typical asphalt tanker in the fleet has a 7,200-gallon capacity.
Polar jet fuel trailers in the fleet carry 9,000 gallons of product. The uninsulated trailers have a single compartment.Dry bulk trailers are used to transport an increasingly diverse variety of construction materials and industrial minerals. Most of the 1,040-cu-ft and 1,660-cu-ft trailers in the fleet were supplied by Polar Tank Trailer LLC.Six of Dillon Transport’s 15 terminals have maintenance shops, and those facilities handle a large percentage of the fleet’s routine service.Twenty-eight tractors in the Dillon Transport fleet were outfitted with Cummins’ Comfort Guard auxiliary power unit.
Eco Flap is a SmartWay-approved mudflap that lets air pass through for reduced drag.Air-Weigh digital scales give drivers more control over loading operations for asphalt and dry bulker rigs.Jet fuel trailers in the Dillon Transport fleet are specified with Civacon overfill protection.Tank hardware on the Polar jet fuel trailers includes EBW bottom-loading fittings and Civacon internal valves.
