A Dillon Transport Inc dry bulk rig is refueled with liquefied natural gas (LNG) at the new Clean Energy filling station that opened in September on the carrier’s terminal property in Dallas TX. Dillon Transport has 15 LNG-fueled tractors operating out ofDillon Transport’s Jeff Dillon and Charles Musgrove pictured at the new Clean Energy fueling station on the carrier’s property in Dallas TX. The filling station will share the location with a 12,000-sq-ft terminal and maintenance shop that is under develoA driver wears protective clothing—including gloves and faceshield—while refueling a tractor with LNG.
Dillon Transport will be specifying the new Cummins Westport ISX12 G engine in its next round of natural gas-fueled tractors.Tractors with the 8.9-liter Cummins Westport ISL G engine carry enough fuel for about a 400-mile range. LNG fuel capacity will be increased in future truck purchases to provide a 700-mile range.This is the relatively simple and lightweight emission control system on trucks with the 8.9-liter ISL G and 12-liter ISX12 G engines.
Michelin X-One widebase tires were selected for the tractors and trailers assigned to the Owens Corning operations in Dallas TX and Saville OH.MAC Trailer’s PneuMACtic bulkers are performing well for Dillon Transport. The aluminum trailers have a 1,050-cu-ft, and drivers praise the stability on the road. They say they experience very little sway.The second manway on this trailer has been fitted with the<br />RMC remote-operated domelid. During loading, the driver<br />can actuate the domelid from the ground.
Bulk Tank Inc’s Sandhog tees are performing well for Dillon Transport and have great product-flow characteristics.Tractors and trailers in the Dillon Transport fleet are being fitted with Air Weigh’s on-board scales to help ensure maximum loads.Built by E D Etnyre & Co, this DOT407 crude oil trailer is one of the newest in the Dillon Transport fleet.
