Until recently, Bryan Wood and Brad Holmes were the entire tank cleaning crew at Pedricktown Tank Wash in Pedricktown NJ. Holmes owns the wash rack with his wife Pamela, and Wood is the wash rack supervisor. The four-bay chemical wash rack opened for busiBrad Holmes sits next to a computer monitor displaying the tank cleaning software developed by his father in the 1980s. He reacquired rights to the software, which contains characteristics and wash formulas for 5,000 chemical products.Pamela Holmes manages worker safety and regulatory compliance at Pedricktown Tank Wash. She holds an MSA air monitor used to check the tank atmosphere prior to confined-space entry.
Water and cleaning solutions are routed to the wash bays through this pipe manifold system.All new three-inch valves were installed when the pipe manifold system was overhauled during the wash rack renovation.Also part of the piping overhaul was the installation of an Eco Smarte treatment system that electrically charges water to remove iron. It serves as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional water softeners, according to Brad Holmes.Sellers spinners were supplied by J-Tech Inc. Hart Industries provided spinner cones and hoses for the tank cleaning operation.
Bryan Wood uses a Guardian harness while working on top of a tank trailer.Brad Holmes spent $60,000 to refurbish the 30-year-old vat-style wash system at Pedricktown Tank Wash.Steam and hot water for tank cleaning are supplied by a 150-hp York Shipley boiler.Wastewater from tank cleaning is pretreated and pH-adjusted with this system that includes an oil/water separator.
