Ventura Transfer Company, Los Angeles CA, has been awarded first place for intermodal safety by the California Trucking Association (CTA).

Ventura said it has been honored by the CTA more than 10 times for its safety record.

"We are so honored to have won this prestigious award again this year," said Brian Oken, chief executive officer. "Safety is our top priority and being recognized by the CTA validates the hard work of every member of our team."

The criteria for winning the award includes how the company organizes its safety programs and conducts training, driver supervision, and preventive maintenance. The award also is based on the company's record of accident reduction. A field audit is then performed by CTA safety staff to insure the accuracy of all winning entries.
