Truckers vow to shut down Washington DC Beltway Oct 11-13

Oct. 9, 2013

Owner-operator truck drivers say they plan to slow or shut down traffic on I-495 around Washington DC this coming weekend (October 11-13). Truck drivers are protesting low wages, high fuel prices, ballooning federal regulations, and out-of-control federal debt.

Organized under the banner RideForTheConstitution.org, the group says the weekend convoy on the Washington DC Beltway is necessary to highlight the serious problems facing America. The program started with a Facebook campaign called “Truckers to Shutdown America.”

Convoy organizers say they will not block motorists and other truckers who show support for the protest by painting or writing the hashtag #T2SDA on their vehicles. The hashtag stands for “Truckers to Shutdown America.”
