Apr 30, 2001 12:00 PM

The latest numbers from the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association (TTMA) indicate that new trailer production and shipments are on a downswing across all trucking sectors. Complete tank trailer and chassis shipments for December 2000 represent a 5.1% drop from November (513 in November and 487 in December).

The preliminary numbers for all of 2000 are down 2.4% from the 1999 figures. In 2000, trailer manufacturers built 6,027 tanks, compared with 6,175 for the previous year. TTMA's figures are taken from the US Bureau of Census Current Industrial reports.
