Oct 30, 2002 12:00 PM

Shell Oil Products US, Houston TX, plans the closing or selling of seven blending/packaging plants in the United States. The facilities will either be closed or sold in the third and fourth quarters of 2003, according to Shell information. A regional distribution facility will relocate to Houston in late 2003.

Three facilities in Shreveport LA and individual facilities in St Louis MO, Seattle WA, Alameda CA, Vernon CA, and Bluefield WV will be impacted by this plan. Disposition options for these assets are being evaluated. A total of approximately 400 employees and contractors work at the sites. The plan follows the Shell acquisition of Pennzoil-Quaker State Company, completed October 1.
