The American Petroleum Institute has issued a new recommended practice to help ensure safe and efficient loading and delivery of petroleum products to retail gasoline outlets and bulk storage facilities. This publication provides procedures for top- and bottom-loading tank trucks as well as unloading to both underground and aboveground storage tanks and to aboveground tanks located within vaults (pits) or within dikes or walls.

API Recommended Practice (RP) 1007, Loading and Unloading of MC306/DOT406 Cargo Tank Motor Vehicles, First Edition has been published in a laminated and tabbed format to facilitate use by truck drivers. RP 1007 was prepared by a joint task force with representatives from API, the United States Department of Transportation, the National Association of Convenience Stores, the Petroleum Marketers Association of America, the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America, and the National Tank Truck Carriers. The document also was reviewed by the US Environmental Protection Agency.

RP 1007 is $12.50 per copy for API members, $25 for non-members. It may be ordered from TechStreet of Ann Arbor MI via phone at 800-699-9277 or 734-302-7801; fax at 734-302-7811, or access www.techstreet.com.
