Tanker bomb threat in UK?

Aug 22, 2005 1:47 PM

The London Times and other papers report that the UK Department of Transport has given security guidelines to fuel-tanker operators as transport experts call for better monitoring of road tankers, according to CV Transport News Brief.

There are suggestions that tankers should share the remote shut-down technology, common on most cash-carrier trucks. All this follows reports that al-Qaida planned to use fuel trucks as vehicle bombs. This latter scare is denied by UK security authorities.
