Peters confirmed as Transportation Secretary

The United States Senate has unanimously confirmed Mary Peters as Secretary for the Department of Transportation.
She was confirmed September 30 after her nomination was reported to the Senate by the Commerce Committee by a unanimous vote. Peters served as administrator of the Federal Highway Administration from 2001 to 2005 and prior to that spent three years directing the Arizona Department of Transportation.
