By all accounts, National Tank Truck Carriers achieved a major success with the second annual Tank Truck Week held in Houston TX November 10-12.
More than 1,400 members of the tank truck industry registered for the three-day event, and suppliers to the industry accounted for 200 equipment exhibits, including 80 tank trailers and tank containers on display at the George R Brown Convention Center.
“This was a great event,” said Dean Kaplan, NTTC chairman and CEO and executive officer of K-Limited Carrier Ltd. “This year’s Tank Truck Week brought a record crowd. It came on the heels unprecedented growth and prosperity for the tank truck industry this year.”
This year’s expanded Tank Truck Week program featured topics of interest for several key operating functions of any tank truck company including safety, tank cleaning, maintenance, and driver relations. Guest speakers included Paul Bomgardner, chief of the Hazardous Materials Division at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration; Elisabeth Barna, senior vice-president, American Trucking Associations (http://trucking.wpengine.com/), and a keynote address by Dr Lou Francescutti, past president of the Canadian Medical Association.
