PHMSA clarifies hazmat definitions

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has made some corrections that apply to definitions of a hazmat employee, employer, shipping papers, and security plans, according to information published in the Federal Register August 8.
The final rule corrections (49 CFR Part 171) reply to a number of questions received by PHMSA from the regulated community and the confusion about some of the regulations.
