Goodyear is marking the 25th anniversary of its North America Highway Hero Award program begun in 1983, according to Goodyear information.

The award is presented annually to a professional trucker who exhibits selflessness and courage in helping others. Goodyear said it began sponsoring the Highway Hero program in order to promote a positive image of truck drivers.

“It’s all about the drivers,” said Donn Kramer, director of Goodyear commercial tire marketing. “It’s all about what they do in their jobs and their actions that go above and beyond the call of duty. It has everything to do with who they are as people.”
