Goodyear-FleetHQ Emergency Roadside Service helps millionth customer

Sept. 24, 2014

In the trucking industry, vehicle downtime equals lost revenue. Trucks that have been immobilized by tire-related problems need to get back on the road as quickly as possible.

“That’s why having access to a comprehensive emergency roadside service program is so important,” says Jose Martinez, business solutions manager, Goodyear Commercial Tire Systems. Goodyear-FleetHQ began offering Emergency Roadside Service in late-2007.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s 24/7 Emergency Roadside Service program recently helped its one millionth customer return to service. “This significant achievement is a testament to the power of Goodyear’s 24/7 Emergency Roadside Service program, which is offered through the Goodyear-FleetHQ suite of business solutions,” Martinez says.

The one millionth Goodyear-FleetHQ Emergency Roadside Service call took place earlier this month. A driver for Schneider National was driving near Floresville TX when his truck ran over a road hazard, which caused a trailer tire to deflate.

After pulling over to the side of the road, parking his truck and inspecting the tire, the driver notified Schneider’s Emergency Maintenance department.

A Schneider call agent collected key information, including the truck’s location, and entered it into a form on the Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service Centers’ web site. A Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service Center technician responded and replaced the truck’s flat trailer tire with a new Goodyear tire, which enabled it to return to service.

Using Goodyear-FleetHQ Emergency Roadside Service also gives fleets and owner-operators access to more than 2,200 Goodyear-affiliated commercial tire service providers from coast to coast. “Help is never too far away,” Martinez says.

In addition to contacting the Goodyear-FleetHQ Solution Center through the Goodyear Commercial Tire & Service Center Web site, drivers also can call a dedicated number (1-866-353-3847) or contact Goodyear-FleetHQ through the Goodyear Road Service App, which is available for both iPhones and Androids.

“There are multiple ways to engage Goodyear-FleetHQ Emergency Roadside Service,” said Martinez. “Regardless of the method drivers use to contact us, our goal is to get trucks up and running as quickly and efficiently as possible, so fleets can continue to focus on their core business, which is moving freight.”
