Fuel costs projected at $72 billion

Aug 12, 2005 7:16 AM

The trucking industry will face a $72-billion fuel cost for 2005, a $20 billion increase over 2004, according to information from the American Trucking Associations (ATA).

In recent months, fleets have, like many businesses, reported that rising fuel costs hit their bottom line, crimping quarterly profits.

To ease the situation, ATA President Bill Graves said the United States needs a steady supply of oil and refined products. T

Toward this effort, ATA supports environmentally sound exploration of Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as part of a long-term effort to help reduce America’s dependence on foreign oil.
