The trucking industry will face a $72-billion fuel cost for 2005, a $20 billion increase over 2004, according to information from the American Trucking Associations (ATA).

In recent months, fleets have, like many businesses, reported that rising fuel costs hit their bottom line, crimping quarterly profits.
