The price of crude oil struck an historic price January 2 when futures climbed to $100 per barrel. The high was attributed to world unrest, particularly in Nigeria and Algeria, according to news reports.
Meanwhile, the average price of diesel across the nation rose 3.7 cents last week to $3.345 per gallon, according to the Department of Energy.
Low sulfur diesel was $3.272 per gallon, a 4.7 cents increase. Ultra low sulfur diesel was $3.356 per gallon, an increase of 3.5 cents per gallon.
