NACD makes RDP changes

Sep 28, 2005 1:33 PM

The National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) has made two significant changes to its Responsible Distribution Process in the areas of security and verification.

NACD's Board of Directors approved the use of vulnerability assessments for all of its members and improved the association's existing third-party verification process by integrating Site Class Verification, a third-party audit driven by producers, into the current RDP verification process.

The changes are expected to reinforce the standing of NACD members with manufacturers, community leaders, and government officials.

Members will not be required to use a specific vulnerability assessment model or methodology; however, NACD is close to finalizing guidelines specific to chemical distribution that will be understandable, effective, and consistent with guidance from appropriate federal agencies, NACD said

Final details of the new unified verification protocol, which will continue to be one of the requirements for membership in the association, are not yet completed but are expected to be ready for utilization shortly after the new year when a new three-year verification cycle begins.
