Tank truck burns in large fireball

A petroleum tank truck carrying almost 9,000 gallons of product burned in large fireball November 23 on Interstate 95 near Washington DC, temporarily closing northbound and southbounds lanes, according to media reports.

A driver for Ocean Petroleum, Newark MD, noticed smoke in the cab and stopped the truck. He escaped injury. The incident occurred when the fire spread to the tank trailer, the reports said.

No injuries were reported.
