Pure Biofuels Corp, Los Angeles CA, has begun construction at the company's 52-million-gallon-per-year biodiesel production facility at the Port of Callao in Lima, Peru.

The facility is expected to be online by the first quarter of 2008. Earlier this year, Pure announced the company will produce 100 percent of its own palm oil on 100,000 hectares (about 247,000 acres) of leased land managed and operated by the company.

The Callao Port facility will cover 4.7 hectares (almost 12 acres) and sits on land purchased by Pure last year. The company said it has expansion plans that would increase capacity to more than 150-million gallons per year by the end of 2009.
