TSA delays background checks for Canada, Mexico drivers

Feb 10, 2006 2:28 PM

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has extended the deadline to August 10, 2006, that requires drivers hauling hazardous materials operating in Canada or Mexico to undergo background checks similar to those required for US drivers, according to information in the Federal Register February 10.

TSA is extending the implementation deadline for the requirements under Section 7105 from February 10, 2006 to August 10, unless the Transportation Security Administration issues a notice or other regulatory action before that date with an earlier date for implementing the requirements under the statute.
