LPG trailers explode in train collision

Four people were killed and 44 were injured after two MC331 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tank trailers exploded in a fiery train collision August 11 in Mexico near Brownsville TX.
The collision occurred in Lucio Blanco when the tractor/trailer units attempted to cross the railroad tracks about 3 pm, said Lenny Perez, Brownsville Fire Department chief.
"The train hit the front tank broadside," Perez said.
The second propane tank trailer sustained a crack and product was released, causing further fire, he said.
The Brownsville Fire Department assisted with two fire units and an ambulance.
Perez said some of the victims were severely burned and buildings were destroyed in a six-block area surrounding the scene.
