Price of diesel fuel climbs
for first time in six weeks

The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel nationwide rose for the first time in six weeks, gaining 7.6 cents to $2.832 a gallon, according to US Department of Energy information.
Diesel’s increase came after five weeks of declines totaling 12.3 cents. Trucking’s main fuel is now 70.2 cents above the same week in 2009.
All US regions saw higher prices, with the largest advance of 8.9 cents occurring in the Midwest. New England is still the most expensive region, with diesel fuel now at $3.011.
