Efficiency, carrier selection topics at NTTC meeting

May 17, 2007 1:23 PM

Plans to improve efficiency and a carrier selection initiative were subjects two shippers presented at the National Tank Truck Carriers Annual Conference May 7-9 in Las Vegas NV. Joe Adams of Holcim US and Summer Camp of Chevron Oronite Chemical Co presented their companies' plans.

Adams said the Holcim committee determines the selection criteria and scope of work that will be necessary for a carrier to perform. The carrier is then given the requirements to submit its application that includes documentation of its ability to meet the demands.

Chevron is looking at ways to improve logistics and various transportation modes, Camp said. Among the considerations are rates, scheduling, driver/shipper relationships, and loading expediting.

Full coverage of the NTTC meeting will be in the July issue of Bulk Transporter.
