Price of diesel rises 2 cents

The average retail price for on-highway diesel rose two cents to $2.896 per gallon last week, according to information reported May 1 by the federal Energy Information Administration.
The price for the preceding week was $2.876 per gallon, a 40-cent increase since the beginning of this year.
The increase from a year ago at this time totals 63.4 cents per gallon.
