Price of diesel fuel climbs
for third consecutive week

The average price of a gallon of diesel fuel nationwide increased for the third straight week, rising 4.3 cents to $2.904 a gallon, according to US Department of Energy information.
It has now climbed 14.8 cents in the past three weeks after falling 12.3 cents over the previous five weeks. The most recent gain put trucking’s main fuel 85.9 cents over the same week in 2009.
All regions except New England reported higher prices. The Midwest had the cheapest prices, advancing 4.6 cents to $2.871. California rose 3.4 cents to stay the most expensive area at $3.057 a gallon.
