for first time in two months

Jun 30, 2009 12:02 PM

The average price of diesel fuel nationwide dropped for the first time in eight weeks, decreasing 0.8 cents to $2.608 a gallon, according to US Department of Energy information.

This decline was the first since a 1.6-cent dip May 4. In the seven weeks after that, diesel’s price climbed 43.3 cents.

The downturn left diesel fuel $2.037 below its level a year ago, when it was advancing to its all-time record of $4.764 a gallon, which was established July 14, 2009.
