Whittington to lead renewable fuels task force

Jul 28, 2006 12:15 PM

John Whittington, Grammer Industries, has been named chairman of a Renewable Fuels Task Force to examine issues associated with renewable fuels and their importance to the commercial agricultural trucking industry, according to the American Trucking Associations.

The task force inception, part of the Agricultural and Food Transporters Conference (AFTC), follows action by the House of Representatives and Senate that establishes a national renewable energy goal whereby 25 percent of energy consumed in the United States must come from agricultural-based renewable fuels by the year 2025.

ATA said it supports the use of biodiesel in blends up to five percent that meet applicable quality standards and are part of a single, national diesel fuel standard.
