Ventura Transfer again earns laurels from CTA for its intermodal safety

Jun 1, 2009 12:00 PM

Ventura Transfer Company (VTC), a bulk transloader and distributor of products shipped throughout the United States, was again awarded first place for Intermodal Safety by the California Trucking Association (CTA). This is the second year in a row that VTC has won this award. Randy Clifford, chairman; and Jim Cheney, safety, compliance, and environmental manager, were on hand at the ceremony in Sacramento CA to accept the honor.

Judging is done by an independent panel that looks at how the company organizes its safety programs and conducts training, as well as driver supervision, preventive maintenance, and its record of accident reduction. A field audit is then performed by CTA safety staff to ensure accuracy of all winning entries.

VTC is also the recipient of a first-place award for Safest Carrier in the 2006 Fleet Safety Award competition.
