Tank trailer production dropped by more than a third in 2001, but the sector performed better than the trailer manufacturing industry as a whole. Production of tank trailers and dry bulkers fell by 37 percent, compared with 2000, according to the latest survey from Economic Planning Associates Inc (EPA). In contrast, total trailer manufacturing was off by 45.5 percent. EPA reported total 2001 trailer shipments amounted to 145,400 units, compared with 266,100 units in 2000.
