Trucking threat level clarified by DHS

Trucking companies are not included in the current elevation of the threat level by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), according to the American Trucking Associations (ATA).
When DHS raised the threat level to orange (high) in response to the London bombings, some in the homeland security community misinterpreted the definition of transit. This resulted in confusion as to whether or not trucks and charter buses were included in the threat level elevation.
At its members' request, ATA sought clarification from DHS and were assured that the new threat level does not apply to trucking or the majority of the busing industry.
Trucking companies and the non-transit bus community should continue operating at code yellow — elevated — rather than code orange, ATA said.
