Transport Canada Offers CD-Rom to Inspectors

Nov 1, 2001 12:00 PM

TRANSPORT Canada's Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) inspectors are using a CD-ROM developed specifically for the department. It provides inspectors with easy electronic access to reference documents such as legislation, standards, and policy documents used in the course of their day-to-day work.

Inspectors run the CD on laptop computers that they carry into the field. The CD program contains documents, forms, and other tools, and replaces several thousands printed pages.

Subjects available on the CD include the Canadian TDG regulations, nuclear substances and explosives regulations, US hazardous materials transport regulations, and the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code.

Also included are Canadian permits of equivalent level of safety, advisory notices, general information documents, and US Department of Transportation documents.
