SITA, Rhodia Eco Expand to United States

Sep 1, 2001 12:00 PM

SITA, the waste services division of Suez, and Rhodia Eco Services, hazardous industrial waste (HIW)-processing subsidiary of Group Rhodia, are pursuing their alliance to develop new HIW business worldwide. The firms already equally share ownership of a European subsidiary, Teris SA. Now SITA and Rhodia have created Teris LLC, a jointly held subsidiary targeting the HIW sector in the United States.

Teris LLC will acquire the assets of ENSCO, a subsidiary of Bramble Industries Ltd that specializes in thermal processing in the HIW sector of the United States. This acquisition includes facilities in El Dorado AR and Wilmington and Camarillo CA. It is subject to US regulatory approvals.

Rhodia will finance its share of this acquisition by contributing assets of its fully owned subsidiary, HEAT, a preprocessing platform near Dallas TX. Rhodia Eco Services will provide Teris LLC exclusive marketing rights to its American hazardous waste co-incineration activity at facilities in Hammond IN, Houston TX, and Baton Rouge LA.
