Simplex gets new patent, production center

Consolidated Metco Inc (ConMet) was awarded its most recent United States patent #6199889 for its Simplex Lite fifthwheel March 13, 2001. ConMet engineers have now been granted 19 different US patents for fifthwheel innovations.
Design improvements covered by this patent include a flatter, more continuous top surface that maximizes contact with the trailer bedplate. The top plate has been reconfigured, with a shorter length and wider kingpin receiving slot. The top plate also has been re-engineered to reduce its weight without sacrificing strength or durability. The locking jaw mechanism has been redesigned for lighter weight.
