SBCD 2005

Dec 1, 2005 12:00 PM

SUNSHINE was plentiful at the 16th annual Southern Bulk Carriers Day October 6 at Gulf Greyhound Park in La Marque, Texas.

Sponsored by the Texas Tank Truck Carriers Association (TTTCA), the event had tank truck exhibits from 70 fleets, plus vendors provided 40 displays in booths. Hurricane Rita affected participation in this year's SBCD, because much of the equipment scheduled for the event was diverted to hurricane relief activities.

Special activities included a dunking booth that raised money for the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund. Cindy Morphew, Texas Oil & Gas Association, presented a message from Governor Rick Perry thanking members of TTTCA for their help during Hurricane Rita. The Texas State Legislature presented a certificate of thanks and a Texas flag that had flown over the capitol.

Winners of the tractor-trailer image and quality contest were recognized. Equipment judges were Cpt Wesley Johnson, retired, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS); Sgt Tom Hartman, DPS; Officer T C Perrin, Houston Police Department; and C B Isbell, retired, DPS.
