The United States Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE International) approximately $700,000 over the next two years in cost-shared programs. This money will be used to facilitate development of codes and standards for fuel cell vehicles to enable transition of fuel cell vehicles into the marketplace. All award amounts are subject to final contract negotiation within the DOE.

Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham said $85 million in research awards would be given to 18 organizations and five universities to perform research and development on cutting-edge energy efficiency and clean energy science and technology.
