July 3, 2000 — Commercial motor vehicle operators have two years from this date to replace the ICC number of trucks with a new DOT number, FMCSA (202)366-4009.

July 3, 2000 — Operators of commercial motor vehicles have five years to comply with a requirement to display the legal name or a single trade name on their trucks and tractors, FMCSA (202)366-4009.

December 15, 2000 — Comment period ends for hours-of-service rulemaking, DOT (202)366-0456.

— 2001 —

March 1, 2001 — Compliance date for in-cab indicator lamps that monitor trailer antilock braking systems, NHTSA (202)366-5278.

June 1, 2001 — Reflective tape retrofit program must be complete for trailers and semitrailers built prior to Dec 1, 1993, FMCSA (202)366-4009.

July 1, 2001 — Operators of pressure vessels must begin retrofitting vehicles with emergency discharge equipment at time of requalification, RSPA (202)366-8553.

July 1, 2001 — New and retested (hydrostatic and pneumatic) pressure vessels must have off-truck remote shutoff systems, RSPA (202)366-8553.

July 1, 2001 — Pressure vessels in other than metered service must have an emergency discharge control system that automatically shuts off flow within 20 seconds following complete hose separation, RSPA (202)366-8553.

— 2006 —

July 1, 2006 — Retrofits of emergency discharge equipment on pressure vessels must be complete, RSPA (202)366-8553.
