PrePass expands 40 percent in 2002

Usage of the PrePass system, Phoenix AZ, grew more than 40 percent in 2002, according to company information. The system offers motor carriers with good safety records the opportunity to comply electronically with size, weight, and safety credential requirements while bypassing inspection facilities at highway speed.

PrePass grew from 191 sites in 2001 to a total of 228 by the end of 2002. States that joined the system in 2002 included Missouri and Virginia. The number of trucks equipped with PrePass transponders grew from 187,000 in 2001 to 220,000 in 2002.
