Premium upgrades

NASCAR fans had an opportunity to see more than a car race at the Daytona 500. On display throughout the week leading up to the race on February 19 were some of Freightliner's premium tractors sporting the latest image upgrades, including a new interior chrome accessory package.

Tractors on display included the Freightliner Coronado, which is this year's official hauler for teams including Evernham Motorsports, Penske Racing South, and Chip Ganassi Racing. The new interior bright package — also available on the Freightliner Trucks Classic, Classic XL, and FLD SD models — is a factory-installed option designed to enhance the appearance of the vehicle and increase resale value for the customer.

The interior bright chrome package is made from durable, quality materials and includes switch panels, sleeper control panel trim, dump valve trim, mirror and power window switch trim, trailer brake cover, door kick panel and shift cover, along with other dash trim.

“NASCAR races are a great venue to showcase the new interior chrome accessory package,” said Jonathan Randall, Freightliner director of product marketing. “Race teams and fans share our enthusiasm for vehicles that run smart and look good in the process.”

The Coronado also got an audio upgrade. It will come standard with a compact disk (CD) player. Beginning immediately on all Coronado orders, Delphi XTA-2400 AM/FM/WB CD radios will replace cassette players as standard audio equipment on this flagship truck model.

The CD player is designed to withstand rugged longhaul and off-road environments. Backed by a comprehensive warranty, it is equipped with LED backlighting for longer display life, a theft deterrent system, and an alarm clock. The Coronado's wraparound dash puts the CD player and other controls within easy reach, improving ergonomics, safety, and accessibility. The Delphi XTA-2400 AM/FM/WB CD Radio is satellite radio compatible, allowing drivers to take advantage of optional subscription-based satellite radio service.

All Coronado SleeperCabs, as well as Columbia and Century Class S/T Signature interior models, are available with standard one-piece cabinet doors. The one-piece cabinet doors are an optional upgrade on Columbia and Century Class S/T SleeperCabs with Base and Heritage interiors.

The one-piece design reduces cab noise. The cabinet doors are made from thermoplastic polyolefin, a highly durable material, and come with a special anti-scratch-and-mar treatment that resists wear and tear.
