Phoenix Waste Services purchases Miners entities

Phoenix Waste Services Company Inc, Newark, New Jersey, has announced the $17 million purchase of Miners Fuel Company Inc, Miners Environmental Inc, and Miners Oil Company Inc, all of Tremont, Pennsylvania.

The Miners entities operate a longhaul solid waste transporting business, a fuel oil supply business, and a specialty waste company in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Jeffrey Parker, a founder of the Miners entities, will remain as president and chief executive officer through November 2004.

Phoenix operates as a long-haul waste transporter in the northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, and is developing waste handling and disposal facilities, as well as resource recovery facilities, in metropolitan New York, Miami, Florida, and several western states.
