Ontario Trucking Association joins SmartWay

Sep 1, 2006 12:00 PM

The Ontario Trucking Association is the first Canadian-based organization to become an affiliate member of the SmartWay Transport Partnership program.

This program is a voluntary collaboration between the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the freight industry designed to increase energy efficiency while reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution.

OTA and many of its members also have supported a collaboration between EPA and Natural Resources Canada. Through a memorandum of understanding between the two agencies, the resources available by both EPA's SmartWay and Natural Resources Canada's FleetSmart programs work well together for carriers that operate in both the United States and Canada.
